Kii-Katsuura, Japan
Kii-Katsuura is a small fishing village far away from any of the stereotypical images of Japan at the southern most part of the Kii Peninsula. This small, safe, friendly town (where there was not a ton of English to be found) was where Veronica and I managed to find a small traditional family run restaurant and I knew enough Japanese to mutter the words Maguro (bluefin tuna) and out came the most beautiful preparation of rice, freshly caught tuna and wasabi with green tea on the side.
